I'm a Level 5 Disco Bandit, which makes me a Beat Snatcher. I'm five moxie short of the 29 I need for the next level.


Equipmently, I've replaced my studded leather boxer shorts with a Frilly Skirt (power 35), and my continuum transfunctioner with a Shiny Ring (+3 to all attributes!).  I've got a Pine-Fresh Air Freshener I can equip instead of my hobo gloves if I need stench resistance instead of stench damage.

I renamed my familiar. Nicolas Ravindran the Mosquito, is 10 lbs with 120 kills. Yesterday he won a scavenger hunt in the Cake-Shaped Arena.

New accomplishments:

• You have built your own Bitchin' Meat Car.
• You have taken care of the rat problem at the Typical Tavern.

And I've passed all the tests of my guild.  Due to a serious cash-flow issue, I haven't bought any new skills, so I still just have the Disco Aerobics I started with.

Cash flow.  Yeah.  So, I spent all my meat on a cocktailcrafting kit. So I've been making cocktails and drinking them, to get more adventures, to smash more barrels, to get more cocktailcrafting ingredients. I smashed 29 barrels today!  Instead of going out adventuring to earn meat so I can take a vacation.  Oh, and then there's the meat I spent in the casino on the slot machines, before I noticed that the machine that takes 5 meat and no adventures doesn't ever seem to pay out more than five meat.  So perhaps I won't do that anymore.

Quests:

• "The Council requires another task of you, Adventurer. You must slay the Boss Bat. He can be found in the deepest part of the Bat Hole, in the Nearby Plains. Slay him, and return to us with proof of your conquest." Currently can't go past the entryway of the Bat Hole in the Nearby Plains due to bat guano stench.
• Somewhere, there's a door to the 8-bit realm. The crackpot mystic gave me a continuum transfunctioner that, when equipped, will let me enter. It's an accessory. The crackpot mystic will assemble things from Pixels.
• I have a Dr. Hobo's map. The Cool Whip extended my reach so I could leap the pit, but now I need something that combines the properties of a knife and a stalk of asparagus.
• I have the Slug Lord's map. I need something to protect myself from the stench before I can head into the immense septic tank.
• I have the Spooky Temple map. There is a patch of loose soil at the base of the too-tall steps.
• I have a bitchin' meatcar. Vacations are expensive, and, remeber that cash-flow problem? 
• The Pretentious Artist wants to paint my portrait, but not until I get less-bland clothes.
• I have a Spooky Sapling from the Spooky Forest.  It wants to grow.
• "We've received news that might be of interest to you, Adventurer. In the Dark and Dank and Sinister Cave, deep beneath the Big Mountains, our agents have detected the presence of a dangerous foe: The Spirit of New Wave." Inside the cave, there is a Lavatory Troll, and I need gravy to get past him. As I'm not a sauceror, I will have to get my gravy some other how.
• I need to neutralize the Goblin King. He's in Cobb's Knob. Both the bean-counters and the concubine goblins there are more than I can handle, so that will have to wait until I'm bigger.  I do have the Cobb's Knob lab key, if I wanted to get myself beat up in the laboratory instead of the harem or the treasury.

Current inventory of booze and cocktail-crafting ingredients:

• bottle of gin
• bottle of vodka (2)
• bottle of tequila
• strawberry wine
• margarita
• vodka martini
• whiskey and soda
• strawberry

When I ran out of adventures today, I had 13 meat and 13 drunken-ness.

Reading this was a bit like the first time I started reading Vurt. You have to just sort of settle down into the meter of the words and it gets very hypnotic. My goodness, I am so tempted to enter this world you describe, but I fear I may forget to go to work, and school and such.
Sounds divine...and mildly addictive. Yum!

One advantage to KoL is that it's deliberately limited -- you only get 40 turns/day (80 on your first day). You can "buy" extra turns by eating food and drinking booze, but booze also makes you drunk and less capable.

Ok, I'm hooked. That 40 turns/day is such a tease, but I'm glad the limitation is there. Thanks for letting me know. Now I've a new thing to do when hanging out online!

You and serenejournal both mentioned KoL in the same week, so I went to check it out. I'm hooked, damn you both!

My name in there is Red Fiery. I'm a level 3 disco bandit. Frankly, I've never been one for RPGs, so I'm not very good at it and it's taking me forever to figure out how to do things cos their documentation is a bit thin and not written with novice gamers in mind. How on earth do you acquire a familiar? Or do you just have to wait till one shows up? (I've got the Familiar-Gro stuff, can't figure out where/how to use it).

Well done with the rat problem in the Typical Tavern. They totally kicked my arse, again and again. I wasted all of today's adventures alternately being pasted by them, and sitting around in the campsite to regain my Mojo. Maybe I need to go back when I've gone up a level...

Is the familiar-gro tank installed in your campground? And, you should have acquired a mosquito larvae for your very first mission for the council.

If you want the walk-through on anything (including a less-vague answer to your familiar question), you can take a look at the Visual KoL Wiki. I've been avoiding reading too much there because I like to figure out as much as I can for myself ... though I do look up cocktail recipes, because, well, I don't drink enough to know what goes into cocktails. :)

And, yeah, I had to give up on the rats for a level or so. I decided that exploring the town and doing the little tasks that the denizens there requested was a better use of my time.
