  • I've been reading livejournal in nearly-week-sized chunks. So I'm doing a lot of skimming.

  • There's a new baby in the house. In about ten hours, that baby will be one week old. Well, technically, at the moment she's not *in* the house; she's at a doctor's appointment. Which is why I have the time to actually sit down and read LJ and even post. Her parents have discovered that she sleeps especially soundly in my lap: I'm not mama, so there's no distraction of potential lunch, which seems to happen even when the kid's not hungry. ("comfort nursing," somebody called it; mama just calls it "ow!") And I'm not papa, who tends to fiddle with whoever he's cuddling, including the baby. So, I get to baby-sit for a couple of hours each day so that mama can catch some sleep and papa can have a shower and stuff like that. Having the baby on my lap makes *me* sleepy.

  • Thanksgiving occurred at my house. Despite spreading the cooking across six people it still seemed like a lot of work. Of course, it was also two days after the baby came, and less than a month after the fancy-dinner-party for Z's & my anniversary. How's about I just curl up and not entertain anymore for ... oh, awhile? Oh, right, because I always have a holiday-cookie-baking-party. Though, nearly-no-one showed up last year; maybe I'll skip it. And not entertain anymore 'till New Year's, or something.

  • I'm about 80% sure I'm not going to be sending an entry in for SEAF this year. I just don't have the energy. On the other hand, if I shoot something sexy between now and two weeks from now, I might change my mind. But the deadline is awfully close; I'm not optimistic. I'm also lending my lights out for somebody else's project.

  • I've replaced my flimsy tabletop easel with a somewhat less flimsy full-sized free-standing travel easel. It folds up into briefcase-size. It's a $40 knock-off of an easel that normally goes for ten times that much. It's obviously a cheap knock-off; there's at least one place where the groove the leg sits in when its unfolded doesn't actually line up with the leg, so it's a little wobbly. However, it's a lot less wobbly than the previous easel, so perhaps I'll actually, like, *use* it. I very much enjoy drawing using a standing easel. I am much more accurate when I can use my whole arm.

  • That quiz that a number of people on my friendslist have taken thinks I'm Batman
You scored as Batman, the Dark Knight. As the Dark Knight of Gotham, Batman is a vigilante who deals out his own brand of justice to the criminals and corrupt of the city. He follows his own code and is often misunderstood. He has few friends or allies, but finds comfort in his cause.

Which Action Hero Would You Be? v. 2.0

  • Lately, been playing more of City of Heroes/Villains and far less of The Sims 2. Was highly amused when I got to bed late night before last 'cuz I was spending time in City of Heroes but instead of actually playing, mostly I was talking in chat about how one would go about priming a curved object for painting with goache.

  • I've hit two thousand hours without a cigarette. And yes, I'm still too pissed off about not-smoking to accept congratulations. (pretty much full-up on chocolate, though.) Nearly three months and I still want one every day. Knitting is cheaper than smoking but knitting doesn't make the smoking urge go away. (and I've finished the large, easy piece that I started when I quit smoking. and am not feeling very optimistic about starting something else, as the window between "not so easy its boring" and "no so hard its frustrating" is very small right now.

Don't suppose you play on Protector, eh?

Is it considered rude to ask someone you barely know irl what server they play on?

I don't think it's rude... 'least, not any ruder than asking people you only know from, say, livejournal, what server they play on.. and I do that latter bit now and then over on [livejournal.com profile] city_of_heroes, or on the livejournal channel in-game. :)
