I spoke on the phone with a treasured high school friend this afternoon. I am really, really ready for the universe to stop fucking with him.

the good news is that he says they caught it early and it is responding to treatment. the bad news is that it's colon cancer. :(

the other good news is that colon cancer if caught early is almost always curable. my mom had it over 20 years ago and is still alive and kicking at 83.
