ethan's birthday party was quite fun. Lots of kisses and flirting and fun conversations. and: I have such *sexy* friends!

I thought the food-consumption pattern was bizzarre, but upon reflection, I didn't put out little plates until an hour and a half into the evening, so people at first only ate the finger-food. We've got this huge container of hummous left over. That never happens. Nobody had *any* of of the baguette. Okay, there was a whole 'nother bread thing brought by somebody else, so maybe that wasn't as weird. The Saint Andre brie was only half eaten. That's usually the first thing to go.

I was on my feet from 9am yesterday morning getting ready for this party (baking two cakes, cleaning, shopping, etc.) and then fifteen minutes after party *start* time I was still in the kitchen in my jeans, putting stuff out. Left the party in the hands of the guests who'd arrived and dashed upstairs to shower & get dressed. The shower part took me ten minutes, the "get dressed" part took me another ten (which was mostly locating and then applying fishnets), but the hair-and-makeup part in the middle took well over a half-hour. Oh, yeah, and the boots. There was some twiddling with the boots.

And no afternoon nap. Just too much to do. So I didn't make it to the end of the party as I'd been managing at previous parties I've hosted in this house -- I was back to my old habit of starting to droop at midnight, in bed by one. The last guest, I'm told, left at 4am, but by the time I went upstairs at one there were only a dozen or so people left and half of them were preparing to leave.

outfit #1: 9:15pm - 11:30pm. red silk habotai just-above-the-knee tight stretchy dress, high collar with keyhole cut-out, dangly chain earrings, thigh-high fishnets, knee-high patent-leather platform boots that make me just a quarter-inch shy of six feet tall.

outfit #2: 11:30pm - 1am. kept the earrings and fishnets. Traded in the red dress for ankle-length sleeveless high-necked black snakeskin dress, and the platform boots for four-inch black-patent-and-clear-acrylic heels. The fabric on this one, I think, is slinkier than the other dress, because there ensued comments about my undergarments: I leaned over the windowsill in my room to watch somebody leave and the people who remained behind me "discovered" the fishnet-tops. So the rest of the evening people were feeling up the backs of my thighs through the dress, looking for where the fishnets ended...

good party. next time, I hope I'll manage the whole afternoon nap thing so I can stay up later.

whee is right!

I'm here to testify that both of the aforementioned outfits were HUBBA. Serious slinkitude. Mrowr!

And the party overall was highly enjoyable. Much hugging and smooching was had by all. Or at least most, by my observation. :)
