silk painting: dragon piece, part II

The dragon piece turned out to be something of a pain.

After I painted the dragons with gutta, I then overpainted the whole thing with a vivid blue. The lovely blue/green/turquoise the background turned didn't last; once it dried, it became a more boring green...( take a look for yourself )

This was the second piece I did this season (the first one was the splotches I gave to my mom), and it was also the most ambitious.

I will not be trying something like this again until I have had a bunch more practice. I'm actually reasonably satisfied with the results...but I also recognize that there were flaws, and I wanna do better.

goddesslena asked about my recent silk projects.

Since the pieces I've been working on were holiday gifts for my gaming group and their beloveds, and at least one of those people reads this journal, I'd posted most of my notes private. Now that the gifts are given, I can point y'all to them:
