I was standing in my kitchen gently uncorking a bottle of olive oil and just as the cork was clearing the lip of the bottle there was a much louder than expected POP and there was broken glass and oil everywhere and an inch-long gash in my palm (not very deep, stopped bleeding almost immediately, but ow ow ow).

Really, glass bottles are not supposed to behave like that.
