I don't like April Fool's jokes unless they're very carefully crafted. Most of the time, they're just an excuse for somebody to take my trust and call it laughable gullibility.

So far, this year, nobody's hit me with any unsavory pranks. I'm hoping that'll stay the case.

This morning, the tech staff at the CS department sent off an email saying that anyone who had any MP3 files in any directory of their school machines had to contact them immediately, in order to reach a settlement with the RIAA. Otherwise, the department was going to send the RIAA any files they had and their user name and info, so they could be directly sued.

This struck me as a bit over the line.

...and I'm sure made enough people nervous already.

I mean, I have mp3's on my machine at work.. but it's easier to rip them, take the CD home, and have a few songs worth of libraries to listen to after all! :)
