...I *do* think that my computer hardware is actively out to get me, why do you ask?

(sixty hours after loss-of-hard-drive and the interim solution is stable -- has been stable since 36 24 hours in, and unstable-but-mostly-workable since 12 hours in -- but why the hell is getting a new drive into the old box such a fucking pain in the ass?)

(edit: (x2) I guess it only *felt* like three days. this problem started *wednesday* morning, not tuesday... right. really was three days. time, what's the point? done is done.)
