mm mm yum yum
Oct. 2nd, 2004 07:32 pmOn Thursday, instead of paying attention to the presidential debate that was being watched in another room, I cooked. For those I haven't fed, I'm not too fond of following recipes. These days, I make things up and if it works, I post it in my cooking journal. That journal tends to be pretty lonely during the summer; these making-things-up sessions take several hours and I don't usually have that kind of time between, like, may and september.
It's fall! That means it's dinner party season! And it gets cold outside and there's nothing better than spending hours inside a warm fragrant kitchen.
I had my first dinner guest of the season on Thursday. I made honey-balsamic glazed chicken with mushrooms, and lime-roasted squash. And fusilli with garlic slow-cooked in olive oil. And apple-pear cobbler with sour-cream biscuit topping with vanilla ice cream. Yum, yum. And I have leftovers!
(okay, the fusilli I purchased; while I do make my own pasta from time to time, I don't generally make fusilli and I don't make it alongside other complex dishes, because it's so time-consuming. I also didn't make my own vanilla ice cream, this time. I also forgot to *buy* it; I had to send my guest out to get it while I finished cooking...)
