sneak preview
Sep. 11th, 2004 09:12 amI've passed through my first stage of reaction to the photographs I brought home from burning man. The first stage is always "I hate all of these pictures. They're terrible." I'm most of the way through my second stage of reaction, which is "every frame is precious." Now I'm mostly in the third stage, which I tend to stay in indefinitely: "There are some great pictures here, and in order to ensure they are appreciated I must control their display."
This isn't a bad phase to be in; it means I put good energy into making a gallery people will enjoy looking at.
I've scanned all the rolls (well, all 29 35mm rolls; there are two 120 rolls I'll at the very least make a proof-sheet of in the darkroom soon), cut and sleeved most of them (stopped when I discovered I was too bleary to count to six, making neg-cutting dangerous), sorted them all (I'm getting pretty good at giving a frame three seconds and deciding "definitely", "probably", "maybe", "maybe not", or "no"), and processed my forty-five favorites from the "definitely" pile. ( and here's tiny previews of fifteen of them. )
