I'm paging through my favorite clothes catalog, and I note the proliferation of swim-skirts and suits with shirred waists and whatnot. And the ad copy, here and there, noting that this stuff is concealing and creates the illusion of a waist and so on. Only mentioned once or twice; I think the industry might be pretending that this is fashion, not camoflauge. Maybe if they don't mention it we won't notice that first they make us feel miserable about our shapes and then they sell us stuff to cover up.

Today, though, looking at all these photographs of relatively slender women wearing swimsuits designed to hide "flaws" in our bodies, I had a different reaction than I usually do.

I thought, gosh, I've *really* gotta go buy a bikini top that fits so I can go shake my thang in something really skimpy when we do our weekly outing to the pool. Because the tankini suit that's the only thing that fits my nursing-sized boobs is cute, but not sexy enough.

I do so love my little black bikini. (and: hooray for swimwear separates on clearance!)
