If you like the contrasty, I'd try holding it with a strand of black yarn and knitting garter. If you don't, try pink.
I'd probably hold it with a strand of pink ribbon yarn of some kind, along with a strand of plain black (wool or alpaca, or maybe silk). Then it would be suitable for big needles and would work up fast.
Alternatively, I think it would make a pretty edging for a baby sweater done in pink. Or black. I'm going to be knitting a bunch of goth baby stuff for the coming grandchild at some point.
