games and nightmares

I transported my Sims 2 game from the computer in my bedroom to the computer in the living room; the setup in my bedroom is a terribly non-ergonomic one and I was getting a crick in my neck. The transportation process, however, isn't as smooth as I'd like...I had to package each house up separately and they lost all their relationships -- so they're not friends with each other anymore. The couple that was engaged isn't, anymore. The one who was sleeping her way through the neighborhood has forgotten the names of all her conquests and they don't recognize her at all.

It's eerily reminding me of the nightmare I periodically have that one morning I wake up and find that the last seven or ten years have been a dream -- that I'm still in my apartment in san francisco or worse, still in college. And I'm trapped in the bad old days as the full-sensory details of this golden life fade like dreams always do...

Yipes!

I'm going slowly on populating my first neighborhood and concentrating on seeing how the gameplay differs, and what happens as they grow up and grow old. But, maaaaan, if Adam and Eve lost all those hard-earned relationship and aspiration points, I'd be *pissed.*

Of course, this does give you an opportunity to play out a scenario wherein a mysterious plage of amnesia has struck the whole town ... Perhaps you should plant the crashed spaceship somewhere in the vicinity!

Have you done much downloading? I found a couple of really nice properties on the EA site, downloaded and installed them ... the houses show up in the menu just fine, but I'm not seeing the two commercial properties anywhere, or even a place in the menus to *find* downloaded commercial properties.

Hmh. Probably something funky about the files then (an age-old problem with user-built stuff for the Sims). Ah, well. At least I know there's no Sekrit Special Menu I'm missing. (-;
