If you're happy and you know it...

10 things I'm thankful for right now:

  1. I'm home!
  2. vanilla vodka
  3. warm orange striped chenille sweater
  4. my new cell phone, upon which I can read a small but important subset of my email when I'm off travelling and seeing family, so I don't feel so lonely and isolated from my tribe
  5. being home and reading the rest of my email on my *real* email client
  6. waking up this morning and finding that my cough is finally a minor annoyance instead of the main component of my breathing
  7. my housemates, who juggled technical problems with one of our servers until we got home to deal with it ourselves
  8. my two-and-a-half-year-old niece, who managed to crash herself into a full-length mirror Wednesday night, is fine after the addition of four staples in the emergency room
  9. wellbutrin, which kept me sane when I only had a cigarette every forty-eight hours from Wednesday morning 'till today
  10. at least two months of *no travelling*!

[livejournal.com profile] kightp posts five things she's grateful for pretty much every day. I think that's a wonderful thing. I don't think I could manage to do so daily, but I keep thinking I'd like to try to do so semi-regularly, or something.

*smile* I borrowed the idea from [livejournal.com profile] karenkay back around the first of the month when I was feeling glum and discouraged by the US political situation. I decided to see if I could do it daily for just one month. It was difficult at first, but it's grown easier, and the consistent practice has lifted my spirits considerably.

daily gratitude

I may not post it every day, but I do at least think about what I'm grateful for most days, usually at the end of my yoga practice. Writing it down may work best, but I think that just having the thoughts helps a lot. Maybe you could make it what you think about as you're falling asleep, or making your coffee, or carrying out some other daily ritual?

Oh, and...glad you're home, sweetie!
