I made the mistake of boasting -- twice in the last week -- that I was damn good at staying on-budget. Irony abounds.
Twenty percent over, it looks like. If I can in fact make changes to the contract I received "for review" yesterday that included a clause insisting that changes needed to be made by "two weeks before" which would have been four days before I received the contract. (otherwise it'll be closer to thirty percent, but I have difficulty believing they're going to push back on that.) Damn. And for most of the time we'd been running ten percent *under*, because aiming low is how I stay on budget in the first place.
(this is not a disaster. This is, in fact, well within the cushion of financial comfort, especially since Ethan had initially been convinced we were spending *twice as much* as what I'd budgeted. But, I'm still annoyed.)
