next time...

...I'm bringing the GPS. Assuming there is a next train trip, that is.

I'm pretty sure I said this last time.

....

The guy who's taking tickets -- I guess that's the conductor? -- has a lovely masculilne cologne scent. It's a little distracting. Very few men I've dated have worn scents. I've got mixed feelings; on one hand, I've got a lot of sympathy for people who consider perfume/cologne/aftershave/scented detergent/etc. olifactory warfare for the sensitive-of-nose. If somebody's doused in rose- or jasmine- based perfume, I have to keep my distance. But on the other hand, small quantities of something can be nice. Just enough, say, to reach my nose during a close brush. No more than that. And I react pretty strongly to spicy/musky.

I'm sure I regularly wear more perfume than that, when I wear it.

....

Only two seatings for dinner -- one at 5:30, one at 7:15. I was hoping to dine at six, damn. I initially signed up for the 5:30 seating, but then I heard we don't get a lounge car 'till Spokane. Which means no wandering outside this sleeper compartment after dinner tonight -- too bad, I was looking forward to socializing in the lounge car with tipsy strangers; that was the best part of my abbreviated adventure last yar. So I changed dinner to 7:15; I can have a snack to tide me over if I get hungry. I have this vague fear that the change is going to result in me getting no dinner -- I'm sure that in the course of my life, asking for changes has worked smoothly any number of times. But the times that I remember, of course, are the times when it doesn't work at all.

Gorgeous water over on the left side of the train. I forgot to save a copy of the amtrak route map to my laptop before I left, like I did last time. darn. But since the next stop is Edmonds, that must be puget sound.
